Hyperscale Data Pivots to Bitcoin-Backed Loans for AI Expansion

Hyperscale Data has secured approximately $30 million in financing through the Morpho Protocol, leveraging its Bitcoin treasury as collateral to fund the expansion of its Michigan AI data center. The move marks a strategic shift toward using decentralized finance to access capital while retaining long-term digital asset exposure.

The company, which trades under the ticker GPUS, is tapping into institutional-grade decentralized finance to avoid the dilutive effects of equity financing. As of August 2, 2026, the firm held $30 million in outstanding borrowings at a variable interest rate of 4.9%. By utilizing its Bitcoin holdings as security rather than liquidating them, the company intends to maintain its position in the cryptocurrency while simultaneously accelerating its infrastructure build-out.

Executive Chairman Milton "Todd" Ault III described the integration of decentralized finance as a milestone in the company’s capital management, signaling a departure from treating Bitcoin solely as a passive reserve. The funds are earmarked for the development of the Michigan facility and general corporate operations. The company plans to manage a disciplined balance between unencumbered assets and debt to sustain its growth initiatives in the high-performance computing sector.
