The lawsuit centers on claims that Alibaba misled shareholders regarding its ties to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). According to the complaint, these connections triggered classifications under the National Defense Authorization Act, labeling the firm as a Chinese military company. Furthermore, the litigation highlights concerns that Alibaba’s AI systems were engaged in persistent distillation attacks against third-party models, a risk the firm allegedly downplayed as hypothetical.
Shareholders who believe they suffered losses due to these disclosures have until October 5, 2026, to file a motion with the court to serve as lead plaintiff. While no class has been certified yet, the Rosen Law Firm is soliciting participants to join the litigation. Investors retain the option to choose their own counsel or remain absent class members, as the ability to recover damages in a future settlement does not strictly depend on acting as a lead representative.
