GXO and Exotec deploy Skypod automation for Guess in the Netherlands

The newly commissioned infrastructure includes 127 Skypod robots navigating 60,000 rack locations, supported by a 200-metre conveyor network and eight goods-to-person picking stations. This configuration achieves a throughput of 2,200 order lines per hour during peak operational periods. According to Mark Donné, operations manager at the Venlo site, the system has provided immediate improvements in workflow predictability and processing speed since its launch.

Exotec designed the hardware specifically to address the high SKU density and seasonal volatility inherent in fashion logistics. Wim Vermeir, senior sales executive for Benelux at Exotec, noted that the deployment prioritizes precision engineering over standardized automation to accommodate the brand's growth trajectory. The move underscores GXO’s broader strategy to enhance its regional fulfilment capabilities through scalable, flexible technology.
