National Hispanic Health Foundation Debuts Advocacy-Focused Action Fund

Dr. Elena V. Rios, founder and president of the NHHF, noted that the fund aims to formalize the advocacy work initiated during the organization’s recent Capitol Hill Day. By bridging the gap between health professionals and lawmakers, the initiative seeks to dismantle systemic barriers to care. Andres Ramirez, president of the new Action Fund, described the launch as a critical step in scaling the organization's influence to improve health outcomes for Hispanic populations nationwide.

The reception also honored legislative and industry leaders for their contributions to health equity. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) received the Hispanic Health Leadership Award on Capitol Hill, pledging to continue her role as a vocal advocate for lowering costs and expanding access for Latino patients. Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., and former Centene executive Carl Garrett were also recognized during the evening ceremony for their professional commitments to the field.
