Yili Group Exports Chinese Dairy Symbiosis Model to FAO Conference

Representing Yili at the 'RENOFARM in Action' session, Vice President Xu Ke detailed how the company addresses land degradation in Inner Mongolia. By introducing deep-rooted alfalfa, the company restored 3,667 hectares of grassland, creating a self-sustaining cycle where restored soil supports high-quality forage production. This approach aligns with the FAO’s 10-year RENOFARM initiative, which seeks to optimize the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.

Technological integration at the Chilechuan Ecological Smart Farm serves as the core of Yili’s animal welfare strategy. The facility utilizes IoT-enabled health monitoring and automated climate control to refine raw milk quality, earning it the designation of a RENOFARM Farm 5Gs Pilot Champion in 2026. Beyond technical farm upgrades, the partnership with the FAO has centered on the Dairy Farmer Field Schools established in 2014. These programs provide hands-on training to herders, resulting in a tenfold expansion of farming operations and a doubling of daily milk output across the region. According to Yili Chairman Pan Gang, the company intends to scale these collaborative practices globally to foster long-term development in the agrifood sector.
