IEEE Convenes Global Experts in Budapest to Define Ethical AI Standards

The summit, titled "Exploring Dimensions of Ethical AI in Technology," focuses on mitigating algorithmic bias, navigating complex regulatory landscapes, and addressing data responsibility. Conference chair and IEEE fellow Dalma Novak emphasized that the event provides a venue for diverse voices to synchronize ethical values with rapid technical innovation. Beyond keynote presentations, the program features the IEEE Tech Summit Ethical AI Global Founders Showcase, which highlights emerging innovators currently building responsible systems.

This event extends IEEE’s long-standing work in governance and standardization, drawing heavily from the organization’s recent Technology Megatrends 2030 Report. That analysis, which incorporated insights from 168 experts across 38 countries, concluded that long-term societal adoption of AI hinges on trust, explainability, and safe human-machine interaction. By convening these stakeholders, IEEE seeks to establish human-centered guardrails that prioritize long-term societal benefit over raw speed.
