The project’s flagship site, the Envision Galaxy Campus in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, serves as the primary proof of concept. With a design capacity to support over one million chips, the facility aims to scale beyond 2GW of computing power by anchoring infrastructure directly to abundant wind and solar resources. This model shifts the traditional approach of straining existing power grids, instead building energy and computing capacity as a unified system.
Mission Gobi targets the development of 5GW of green AI capacity worldwide by 2030. CEO Lei Zhang emphasized that the integration of energy and intelligence is essential for future development, stating that the company aims to move energy from a state of scarcity to one of affordability and abundance. By placing high-demand data centers in areas previously viewed as remote, Envision seeks to demonstrate that renewable resources can serve as the fundamental backbone for the next generation of global computing infrastructure.
