NovoPath Integrates Digital Pathology Into Cloud-Based LIS

Most laboratories currently manage digital pathology through fragmented systems, forcing staff to manually bridge the gap between their laboratory information system (LIS) and separate image management software. With only about 10% of U.S. laboratories fully digitized, many institutions report that existing digital transitions actually increase administrative burdens rather than efficiency. NovoPath addresses this by housing the case, the digital slides, and the final report within one unified database, ensuring that every image is automatically linked to the correct patient record without redundant data entry.

The new system tracks slide completion automatically, alerting staff to missing stains or failed scans before a case reaches the pathologist. This integration extends to billing and operations, allowing laboratories to capture digitization codes alongside primary diagnostic services. Because the platform remains hardware-agnostic, labs can integrate existing scanners and viewers, transitioning to the new workflow incrementally by specialty or site. NovoPath plans to demonstrate these capabilities at the PathVisions 2026 conference in San Diego this October.
