Dvorovenko, who plays the nurse caring for Hathaway’s character, suggested the massage to add realism to the scene. Hathaway admitted she had never experienced a foot rub from a professional ballerina before, noting that Dvorovenko’s technique was unexpectedly effective. The actress had to remain completely motionless for the take, making the effort to maintain her composure while being massaged a significant challenge.
While Hathaway navigated the physical comedy of the massage, her co-star Josh Hartnett faced different hurdles. Hartnett, who portrays Jeremy Crawford, found the technical demands of the film’s intimate scenes humorous, particularly when filming in front of spouses. Directed by Michael Showalter, the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2018 novel aims to balance psychological tension with unexpected, visceral moments. Hoover remained heavily involved in the production, consulting closely with Showalter to ensure the film honored the source material. The project, which also stars Dakota Johnson as the writer Lowen Ashleigh, hits theaters this Friday.
