Serazin joins the Institute from Oxford University, where he served as a Senior Research Fellow at Reuben College and directed the Global Challenges Programme. His appointment signals a strategic focus on integrating technology, humanities, and spiritual practice to address contemporary societal challenges. Board Chair Dan Cardinali noted that the selection prioritizes a rare blend of humility and lived experience, essential for advancing the vision of founder John E. Fetzer.
Before his tenure at Oxford, Serazin spent eight years leading the Templeton World Charity Foundation, where he oversaw initiatives spanning neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and the science of character. His background also includes seven years at the Gates Foundation managing global health projects. Serazin, a Rhodes Scholar and Notre Dame alumnus, views science and spirituality as twin pillars of societal progress, both driven by an innate human need to seek truth. He will lead the Institute's efforts to catalyze a global movement focused on spiritual solutions for modern social problems.
