Cage’s comments followed the September cancellation of his Prime Video series Spider-Noir, which had earned a 92% approval rating from critics. Despite the show's success, the actor emphasized that he refused to sign waivers allowing the use of AI during production. He noted that his philosophical divide with the studio makes him incompatible with their current corporate direction, stating he is simply not a member of their club.
Looking ahead, Cage expressed a desire to pivot toward working with Gen Z directors who prioritize handmade, original storytelling over corporate-driven content. He also confirmed his upcoming involvement in HBO’s True Detective. While Cage remains under contract for the Amazon MGM-distributed biopic Madden, arriving in theaters this November, his public comments suggest this may be one of his final professional associations with the platform.
