VeriTrade, the core matching engine developed by Swedish firm Vermiculus, has secured the top honor for Best Matching Engine for Exchanges and Electronic Trading Venues at the 2026 TradingTech Insight US Awards. The win highlights the platform's role in supporting the industry's shift toward continuous, round-the-clock market operations.
The award recognizes VeriTrade’s ability to manage extreme throughput and deterministic latency, specifically hitting 18 microseconds at 50,000 transactions per second and 100 microseconds at 850,000 transactions per second. Johan Norén, System Architect for VeriTrade, noted that the platform’s design prioritizes reliability through advanced memory management and the ability to perform intra-day updates to reference data without downtime.Beyond basic matching, the system is built with a modular architecture that accommodates diverse asset classes, ranging from traditional securities to prediction markets and digital assets. This flexibility extends to deployment, as the engine can run on-premises, in the cloud, or via hybrid configurations. Alexander Kilian, Principal Architect at Vermiculus, emphasized that the firm maintains no commercial ties to specific infrastructure providers, a move intended to give exchanges full control over their own technology stacks. The platform also includes an integrated index engine supporting both Price Return and Total Return calculations, allowing venues to expand their business lines directly within the existing infrastructure.
