After a 14-season career defined by the physical toll of professional baseball, Dexter Fowler is shifting his focus to the science of recovery. The 2016 World Series champion has been appointed Chief Athletic Officer for Valor, the sports medicine division of Vector Science & Therapeutics, to advance transdermal peptide therapies.
Fowler brings a career’s worth of experience with repetitive mechanical stress to the Mequon-based company. His role centers on bridging the gap between clinical peptide research and the practical needs of elite athletes. Valor utilizes transdermal delivery to provide site-directed signaling for ligaments, tendons, and fascia, aiming to address tissue degradation before it results in career-ending injuries. According to Valor President Darryl Drake Jr., Fowler’s firsthand understanding of the cumulative physical burden of professional sports provides a level of credibility that traditional clinical arguments often lack.Fowler, who previously founded 400 Ventures and holds ownership stakes in AFC Bournemouth and Lorient FC, views the role as a necessary evolution for athlete care. He argues that the breakdown of soft tissue under high-intensity, repetitive stress is often treated as an inevitable consequence of the job rather than a manageable physiological challenge. By leading athlete engagement and collaborating with sports medicine professionals, he intends to introduce more proactive options for recovery. Vector Science & Therapeutics, which trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under the ticker PAIN, intends to leverage these efforts to expand the reach of its molecular instruction technology beyond elite tiers to the broader population.
