As Angel Yeast celebrates four decades in the biotechnology sector, the Shanghai-based manufacturer has unveiled its 2025 Sustainability Report. The document details a push toward industrial carbon neutrality by 2059, backed by a series of efficiency projects that saved over 20,000 tonnes of coal in the past year alone.

The company’s latest strategic framework focuses on integrating environmental stewardship across its entire value chain. In 2025, Angel Yeast executed 46 specific energy-reduction initiatives, resulting in the conservation of 10,000 MWh of electricity and 131,400 tonnes of steam. These operational shifts align with the firm's broader commitment to reach carbon peaking by 2030.

Innovation remains central to these efforts, particularly regarding yeast-derived ingredients and precision fermentation. By expanding into functional nutrition and sodium-reduction technologies, the manufacturer aims to meet global demand for sustainable food sources. This technical leadership was recently acknowledged by the publication of ISO 23983:2025, the world's first international standard for baking yeast, which the company helped formulate.

External validation of these practices came from EcoVadis, which awarded Angel Yeast a Silver Medal. This rating places the manufacturer in the top 15% of organizations globally for ESG performance, with its sustainable procurement practices ranking in the top 2% of the industry.
