Since its inception in 2021, Project Power has engaged roughly 60,000 families across all 50 states. The program provides nutrition education, physical activity coaching, and family support at no cost to participants. Recent outcomes underscore the program's efficacy, with 93% of youth participants successfully identifying healthier beverage choices and 78% increasing their weekly exercise frequency to at least five times.
David Healy, president of Sun Life U.S., emphasized that the funding aligns with the company’s broader mission to increase health access in underserved regions. The investment will support more than 100 community organizations and over 250 trained volunteers tasked with delivering the curriculum. Rachel Myers, the ADA’s New England executive director, noted that the continued collaboration serves as a vital tool for families navigating health management, particularly in communities where preventative resources are historically scarce.
