Supply Chain AI Startup Freehand Raises $75 Million

Freehand, a startup deploying autonomous AI agents to manage enterprise supply chain spending, has secured $75 million in a seed round. Co-led by Battery Ventures and NewRoad Capital Partners, the funding arrives as the company expands its footprint with high-profile clients including Meta, Unilever, and Dunkin'.

The company aims to bridge a massive efficiency gap in the corporate world, where firms spend $16 billion annually on software and nearly $350 billion on manual labor to perform tasks that current systems cannot handle. Unlike standard chatbots, Freehand utilizes a proprietary Category Context Graph to ingest unstructured communication and document data alongside structured system records. This allows its AI agents to make decisions, execute transactions, and maintain an audit trail that explains their actions.

CEO Nitin Jayakrishnan, who previously founded the SaaS platform Pando, describes the technology as a move toward true enterprise autonomy. The startup has already secured deployments at major firms including Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Cardinal Health. Investors view the platform as a departure from passive co-pilots, betting that its ability to act as a functional user will drive measurable productivity gains and financial savings for industrial giants.
