The company’s strategy centers on three pillars tailored to regional infrastructure. The first, focused on power and decarbonization, offers modular steam turbines and heavy-duty gas turbines capable of utilizing up to 30% hydrogen blending. These tools are designed to assist markets like Indonesia in retrofitting coal-fired plants and optimizing combined-cycle systems to reduce carbon intensity.
To address the volatility of island-based power grids, Shanghai Electric introduced a modernization suite featuring synchronous condensers, flywheels, and integrated solar-storage pods. These components provide the frequency regulation and inertia support necessary to integrate intermittent renewable energy. Furthermore, the company is exporting its 'Power-to-X' model—recently demonstrated in the Jilin Taonan project—to provide green methanol and sustainable aviation fuel. This approach builds upon existing regional footprints, including major power installations in Indonesia and Malaysia, as the company seeks to deepen its role in Southeast Asia's ongoing shift toward low-carbon generation.
