The acquisition secures two primary industry benchmarks: the UK500, which tracks the United Kingdom’s top 500 ecommerce retailers, and the CustomerX Index, a pan-European ranking report debuting in late September 2026. EMARKETER plans to bolster these datasets with its own proprietary insights, including the recently launched AI Visibility Index, designed to help brands monitor their presence in LLM-based search results. While the research operations shift to EMARKETER, the RetailX events business will continue to function independently, supported by an ongoing media partnership between the two entities.
Matthias Braun, CEO of EMARKETER, highlighted the rigor of the existing methodology as a key driver for the deal. Ian Jindal, founder of RetailX, confirmed that the transition ensures the longevity of the ranking systems while allowing for broader expansion. This move underscores a wider strategy at EMARKETER to consolidate its position as the primary source for professionals navigating the complexities of digital commerce and brand performance.
