CGI Federal Partners With DLA and UT Knoxville for Quantum Research

The collaboration seeks to solve complex logistics problems by integrating emerging compute modalities into systems essential for national readiness. Rather than focusing on singular product launches, the partners are concentrating on iterative research that adapts to evolving mission constraints. Initial areas of exploration include dynamic smart-warehouse orchestration, reverse logistics, and inventory positioning, with specific use cases to be identified by the group in the coming months.

Victor Foulk, Vice-President of Emerging Technologies at CGI Federal, noted that the objective is to deliver actionable mission outcomes rather than mere demonstrations. The research will be hosted at the company’s onshore delivery center in Knoxville, leveraging the region's existing research infrastructure. Marc Gibson of UT Knoxville added that the agreement serves to bridge the gap between academic discovery and commercial application, helping to cement East Tennessee as a hub for the emerging quantum economy. Findings from the project are expected to be shared through industry summits and publications as the work progresses.
