Insider Claims Olivier Martinez Regrets Marriage to Halle Berry

A source described as close to Olivier Martinez claims the actor views his marriage to Halle Berry as “the biggest mistake of his life.” The allegation surfaced as the former couple continue a custody dispute involving their son, Maceo, and contested abuse claims that Berry denies.

The source told the Daily Mail that Martinez married Berry in 2013 largely because she was pregnant with Maceo, saying he believed marriage was “the right thing to do.” The insider also alleged the pair argued before their wedding and that co-parenting later proved difficult. These are the source’s claims; the former couple have not publicly endorsed that account of their relationship.

Berry and Martinez met while filming “Dark Tide” in South Africa in 2010, married in France in July 2013 and announced their separation in October 2015. Their divorce proceedings continued until August 2023. A settlement established shared custody, monthly child support of $8,000 and additional payments tied to Berry’s earnings.

The custody dispute intensified after a September 26 confrontation involving Maceo and a virtual-reality headset. In an October court filing, Martinez alleged Berry attacked and choked their son. Berry categorically denied abusing him, describing the incident as playful roughhousing that turned into an argument. The allegation led to temporary restrictions and Maceo giving nearly four hours of testimony behind closed doors.

On October 29, Judge Shelley Kaufman dissolved a temporary restraining order, finding Martinez had not met the burden for a continuing protective order. Temporary primary physical custody remained with Martinez; Berry’s daytime visits were restricted and overnight stays prohibited. The court also ordered 12 joint therapy sessions for Berry and Maceo.

In a November 4 filing, Martinez asked Berry to pay $240,000 in legal fees: about $176,523 he said was already owed and $63,477 for anticipated work. The request has not been granted. Martinez told “Extra” he wanted Maceo to love and forgive his mother. The next custody review will determine whether the temporary arrangement changes.
