Primark has tapped Lucy Slinger, the former deputy financial chief at Ikea franchisee Ingka Group, to serve as its new Chief Financial Officer. The appointment arrives as the retailer prepares for a standalone future, separating its financial operations from parent company Associated British Foods to accelerate independent growth.

Slinger brings over two decades of experience from Shell, where she held senior roles spanning corporate finance, group planning, and global aviation. Her expertise in disciplined investment will be central to Primark’s strategy as the brand navigates its expansion efforts. CEO Eoin Tonge emphasized that her background in large global organizations is vital for the company’s current phase of development.

Despite recent speculation, Primark remains committed to its long-standing model of physical retail. The company recently clarified that it has no immediate plans for home delivery, despite interest in a Staffordshire warehouse facility that sold for £67.5 million. While Primark continues to refine its digital presence through a new mobile app and a limited Click & Collect service, management maintains that the high operational costs of shipping and returns would undermine its discount retail model.
