Multiverse has established a new technology hub in Edinburgh, extending its engineering footprint beyond London following a $70 million funding round. The workforce development platform has appointed former Amazon engineering leader Colin Mackenzie as its first VP of AI Engineering to spearhead the creation of new agentic products.
Mackenzie joins the company with over a decade of leadership experience, most recently spending three years developing the generative AI platform that powers Amazon’s advertising products. His earlier career includes senior engineering roles at Virgin Money and Clydesdale Bank, alongside experience as a startup founder. At Multiverse, he will lead the development of tools designed to help workforces adapt to rapidly evolving AI capabilities. The expansion arrives as Multiverse targets the creation of 200 new roles across its Edinburgh and London offices over the coming year. Jay Richman, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Multiverse, noted that the Edinburgh office provides critical access to specialized engineering talent. The company aims to bridge the gap between accelerating AI innovation and workforce readiness, positioning itself as an AI adoption layer for employers across the UK and Europe.
