A fleet of 100 autonomous Skypod robots is now navigating the aisles of DSV's logistics centre in Venlo, Holland. The deployment marks a significant shift in the transport giant's warehouse strategy, aiming to bolster fulfillment speeds and management capacity for a diverse portfolio of retail clients across the region.
The installation manages approximately 90,000 bins and trays, serving as a core component of the facility's modernization program. By integrating the Skypod system, DSV intends to improve its response to e-commerce volatility and maintain rigorous service standards. Jan Heijblom, Senior Sales Executive at Exotec Benelux, noted that the system was specifically engineered to meet the high-speed and scalability requirements typical of large third-party logistics providers.Barbara Klep, Managing Director of the Contract Logistics division at DSV, emphasized that the robotic integration provides the necessary agility to support long-term growth ambitions. The move signals a broader trend among major logistics players to transition toward automated, high-density storage solutions to drive efficiency and operational sustainability in the Dutch market.
