As AI infrastructure demands push thermal management to the limit, Vertiv has finalized its acquisition of Italian heat-exchange specialist ThermoKey. The move secures critical manufacturing capacity in the EMEA region, allowing the Columbus-based firm to integrate specialized cooling components directly into its high-density data center ecosystems.
The integration of ThermoKey, founded in 1991, provides Vertiv with immediate access to a robust portfolio of dry coolers and advanced heat-exchange technologies compatible with natural and low-GWP refrigerants. By bringing these production capabilities in-house, Vertiv aims to provide customers with the flexibility required to navigate the rapid scaling of AI factories and complex thermal architectures.Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv, noted that thermal performance has become the primary bottleneck for data center efficiency. The acquisition allows the company to offer a more seamless, integrated thermal chain. Operations at the Rivarotta facility will remain active, with ThermoKey CEO Giuseppe Visentini continuing to oversee the business to ensure continuity for existing partners and employees. This transition marks a strategic push to solidify Vertiv's position as a dominant provider of cooling solutions across global markets.
