A young child’s struggle with Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome following an E. coli infection has prompted Marler Clark to widen its legal pursuit. The firm has now named US Foods Holding Corp., US Foods, Inc., and Dot Foods, Inc. as defendants in a case centered on contaminated beef kofta served at a Los Angeles restaurant.

The amended complaint, filed in response to an outbreak linked to The Kebab Shop on Los Feliz Boulevard, seeks to hold major distribution companies accountable for the path of tainted product through the supply chain. Investigations revealed the child suffered life-threatening complications after consuming the beef, requiring extensive medical intervention at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, including dialysis and blood transfusions.

Attorney Bill Marler stated that the firm’s investigation uncovered evidence regarding the movement of the beef before it reached the restaurant, shifting focus toward the broader distribution network. The litigation demands compensation for the child’s permanent injuries, ongoing medical care, and pain and suffering, asserting that safety obligations extend beyond the final point of sale to every entity responsible for sourcing and handling the product.
