UCB has officially transitioned its global safety operations to the Veeva Safety Suite, marking a move toward a centralized, cloud-based pharmacovigilance architecture. The implementation, completed on June 1, consolidates case processing, signal detection, and reporting capabilities for the enterprise through a multi-partner collaboration involving ELIQUENT, Pinnaxis, and Daelight Solutions.
The migration involved moving 14 million documents and 80 million records from legacy systems into the new environment. This integration of Veeva Safety, SafetyDocs, Safety Signal, and Safety Workbench aims to replace fragmented workflows with a unified platform capable of scaling to meet global regulatory demands. Adrian Maynier, Head of Safety Systems at UCB, noted that the project's success relied on the seamless integration of external experts with internal teams to maintain operational continuity.Beyond basic migration, the technical effort required shifting decades of embedded data and complex workflows. According to Barry O'Hagan, CEO of Daelight Solutions, the project demonstrates how specialized data migration tools can convert historical complexity into a strategic advantage. ELIQUENT managed the program from strategy through to GxP-compliant implementation, ensuring the system remains flexible for future automation. This shift reflects a broader industry trend toward consolidating safety processes on the cloud to reduce technical overhead and improve data utility.
