At BIO International 2026 in San Diego, collagen specialist GELITA is debuting a new ultra-low endotoxin gelatin grade, pushing the purity limits for sensitive biomedical applications. The company aims to provide researchers with a consistent, high-performance foundation for everything from vaccine stabilization to regenerative medicine and complex 3D bioprinting.
The company’s focus centers on its Endotoxin Controlled Excipients (ECE) portfolio, specifically the flagship MEDELLAPRO and VACCIPRO lines. The new MEDELLAPRO Ultra Low Endotoxin variant contains less than 10 endotoxin units per gram, a threshold designed to improve reproducibility in hydrogel development and high-stakes medical device manufacturing. VACCIPRO, meanwhile, remains a core component for stabilizing sensitive molecules, offering low allergenic potential for vaccines and injectable therapies.Beyond current product lines, the manufacturer is shifting its R&D focus toward non-animal recombinant collagen proteins to address long-term sustainability in biotechnology. Dr. Michelle Montgomery, Senior Manager of R&D, will detail these advancements during a presentation titled "The Role of Non-Animal Recombinant Collagen Proteins in Biomedical Applications" on June 23 at 2:45 PM in Theatre 4. GELITA will host attendees throughout the conference at Booth 3335-DF in the German Pavilion.
