A legacy spanning six decades of pool maintenance expertise changes hands as Valencia-based HASA Inc. completes its acquisition of Phoenix-based Bio-Dex Laboratories. The deal integrates Bio-Dex’s specialized algaecides and stain-removal treatments into HASA’s existing distribution network, aiming to broaden the company’s reach among professional pool service providers nationwide.
Bio-Dex Laboratories, a family-owned business established over 50 years ago, has built its reputation on professional-grade chemical solutions designed for both chlorine and saltwater systems. Their product line addresses persistent water treatment hurdles, including calcium accumulation, metal staining, and water cloudiness. By absorbing these assets, HASA intends to leverage its own large-scale manufacturing infrastructure to increase the availability of these specialty chemicals beyond the current Bio-Dex distribution channels.Chris Brink, CEO of HASA, described the acquisition as a strategic expansion of the company’s portfolio, emphasizing the performance record of the Bio-Dex brand. For the departing leadership, the sale marks a transition for a business built on long-standing industry relationships. Managing Partner Lori Brumagin noted that the move is intended to sustain the company’s tradition of quality while opening new opportunities for growth. HASA, which has focused on liquid sodium hypochlorite production since its founding in 1964, plans to integrate these new offerings to provide a more comprehensive suite of maintenance tools for pool professionals.
