Lil Nas X Honors Late Mother With New Single World’s Greatest

“Walk by faith, not by sight,” the voice of Tameka Hill resonates through a raw, personal voicemail embedded in her son’s latest musical project. Lil Nas X announced the release of “World’s Greatest” on Wednesday, dedicating the track to his mother just one month after confirming her death.

The Grammy-winning artist shared the news via Instagram, posting a clip of himself listening to his mother’s voice as she urged him to trust his faith and surrender his burdens to a higher power. This release arrives at a pivotal juncture for the 26-year-old performer, who has spent the recent months focusing on his mental health and navigating the aftermath of a 2025 arrest in Los Angeles.

Following a period of public silence, Lil Nas X revealed in June that he had completed a stint in rehab and received a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. While he previously resisted professional intervention due to fears regarding medication and public perception, he now describes his current state as one of newfound creative freedom. His return to the studio coincides with a court-mandated mental health diversion program, which requires him to maintain treatment for two years to avoid further legal consequences. By channeling his grief and recovery into “World’s Greatest,” the rapper is attempting to pivot away from the intense professional pressures that followed his record-breaking 2019 success, Old Town Road.
