Skanska adds $60M to Florida hospital expansion project

Construction giant Skanska has secured a $60 million contract extension with Lee Health to finalize the interior and utility infrastructure of a new medical facility in Fort Myers. This addition expands the scope of the ongoing project, which now includes the West Bed Tower development and specialized ambulatory surgical capabilities.

The supplemental agreement covers critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, alongside interior finishing for the five-story hospital structure. These costs will be reflected in the company's third-quarter order bookings for 2026. The broader development encompasses a 38,600-square-meter hospital building, a central energy plant, and a 11,600-square-meter medical office complex.

Work on the site has been underway since June 2024. The project remains on schedule, with final completion slated for May 2028.
