Applied Computing Wins Top Honor at Downstream India Awards

London-based Applied Computing took home the Excellence in Computational Intelligence prize at the 2026 Downstream India Excellence Awards in New Delhi. The honor acknowledges the firm’s Orbital foundation model, which helps energy operators manage aging, complex infrastructure while simultaneously driving down emissions across petrochemical and refining sites.

The award was presented at the Global Refining & Petrochemicals Congress by Padma Shri Prof. Ganapati D. Yadav and former FIPI Director General Dr. R.K. Malhotra. Industry leaders gathered at Le Méridien to recognize the platform’s capacity for real-time optimization in environments ranging from LNG facilities to wind and hydro projects.

Hari Ramani, Vice President at Applied Computing, emphasized the significance of peer-led validation, noting that Indian downstream operators manage a scale and complexity rarely seen elsewhere. The company has focused heavily on the region, establishing a Bangalore office in late 2025 following a massive seed funding round. This momentum is further bolstered by strategic integrations with Databricks and Falkor, which embed Orbital into digital twin environments to streamline operations. Led by CEO Callum Adamson and Chief AI Officer Dr. Sam Tukra, the company continues to position its physics-grounded AI as the primary foundation model for industrial energy sites.
